A quick look at one of my fav’s. 1977 340 SST Sno*Jet. Reliable yamaha 340 piston port engine, single mikuni carb, fully greaseable suspension, 116×15 track. sst’s were CDI ignition (Astro’s were points). Very simple sled to work on, and its not cramped under the hood either!! Owned last 3 yrs. Purchased as a package deal on ebay. Rebuilt motor and did other tear down clean-up procedures (fuel, suspension, etc). Not planning on doing a restoration. This is a daily driver (when there is good snow!) Bought it at 1098 miles, now has 2213 as of 2-09-07. I’ve taken this to Grand Lake, CO and she runs great the whole time. Re-Jet and re-clutch it of course. I’ve got a spare Kawi hex clutch that is set for mountain riding, and a spare carb set for high altitude. Swap those 2 parts out and I’m ready to ride. Max speed is about 65 mph. Might hit 70 with optimum conditions, good hardpark, fresh plugs, etc. This one of my favorite sleds. Very light, easy to zip through the trees. Hope you enjoyed looking. See ya on the snow.

you look funny
I have two of the same one you have
There very nice sleds:) yours is very nice
I got a 1979 yamaha exciter 340 it ripps i got it to 70 the other day

That’s my old 340 Exciter engine for sure. Brings back memories. 69 sport that was the best sled I ever had- LONG LIVE THE EXCITER!
I have a question. do you have troubles with the light like does your light blow up when you rev it uup or go fast
your voltage regulator is probably gone bad or is missing
Nice sled! Love the older rides! Looks like it would be fun to ride! I have a REV but this would be fun to ride on a vintage run! Nice job!!!!!
you’re a dick
how fast does the 340 go full out?
PLEASE DON’T READ THIS you will die in seven days if you don’t post this comment on 10 videos in the next hour. if you do, tomorrow will be the best day of your life
What a sweet sled! Let’s go hit some sick jumps!

how fast have you gotte on that beast?
Ugh i want a decent old working sled for cheap this winter, im guna be bored as shit otherwise >_>
Nice! Thanks for posting.
nice sled i have the same exact one but a 440
I have the same sled, but I’m missing the carb. I know it takes a 34mm Mikuni, but do you have any other info on the carb? There are a lot of different 34mm Mikunis out there.
Any 34 mikuni will work, as long as you match the internals (main jet, pilot, side cutaway, etc). If you want to really bump it up, find a PowerJet carb! It’ll take some tuning, but you can make a single carb 340 come to life! Have fun!
Real nice video, nice job!
its almost like they designed it and then realized… we should probably have a headlight on there
Looks like the same aluminum body as my kawasaki drifter.
nice sled… i think you need to turn your idle down a bit tho lol
no lol the the 1975 sno jet tunnel is the same and it was designed for for race 340 free air dual carbs and back then had dual exaust dien weight a thing rupp nirto is faster tho
